Tasting Notes
Explore the distinct character of our wines, crafted with care in the historic Cuyama Valley. Each bottle tells a story of our terroir and pioneering heritage.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting Notes: A bold expression of our sun-drenched valley. Expect rich aromas of dark cherry and blackcurrant, with subtle notes of cedar and vanilla from oak aging. The palate is full-bodied with structured tannins and a long, satisfying finish.
Pairing Suggestions: Perfect with grilled red meats, hearty stews, or aged hard cheeses.
Production: Hand-harvested, aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Limited production from our oldest vines.
Other Varietals
Our portfolio also includes a carefully selected Syrah with peppery notes, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, and a robust Zinfandel. Each reflects the unique minerality of our soils.
Production & Aging
We employ traditional, small-batch methods. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by aging in a combination of French and American oak to achieve perfect balance and complexity.

Our Winemaking Philosophy
Since 1983, our approach has been simple: minimal intervention to let the authentic character of the Cuyama Valley fruit shine through. Quality and authenticity guide every decision from vine to bottle.
From Vine to Bottle
Our winemaking is a patient craft, honoring the pioneer spirit that first planted grapes in the Cuyama Valley. Every step, from soil to cellar, is guided by tradition and care.
Vineyard Operations
Our legacy begins in the sun-drenched rows of our historic vineyard. Meticulous canopy management and dry farming techniques, pioneered here in the 1980s, stress the vines just enough to produce grapes of remarkable concentration and character.
Hand-Harvesting
When the sugars and acids reach perfect harmony, each cluster is harvested by hand at dawn. This selective picking ensures only the finest fruit makes it to the crush pad, preserving the delicate flavors that define our Cuyama Valley terroir.
Fermentation & Aging
Using native yeasts and small-batch fermentation, we allow the wine to develop its true voice. It then rests in seasoned oak barrels, where it slowly evolves, gaining complexity and softness until our winemaker deems it ready for bottling.
This time-honored process, unchanged in its essence since our founding, is how we capture the story of our land in every bottle of Barnwood Vineyards wine.
